Sadly, he was killed by Roman soldiers despite orders that he should not be disturbed at all.
Some people simply can’t follow instructions.
That is the history of upthrust of Physics.
Now, for Lim Shi Ying Principle and all those stuff, I shall begin the story, now that it is raining stupidly and I can’t go out.
I guess I shall out this in a more layman term, after all, Miss Lim Shi Ying herself doesn’t understand what is mentioned in the previous upthrust post.
Either she’s too low end or I’m too zai.
It was any other day. Just any other day in JJC during Physics lesson when Jeremy Tan was sleeping in class, Kavin Aw was playing with Setter Peng, and the rest of the guys at the back were watching Kavin Aw playing with Setter Peng.
The Chatty Gang were sitting in front, with giggles here and there.
You know, the Chatty Gang. They can talk about anything under the sun.
How Sylvester Sim wanted to get married to Maia Lee.
How Mr Low Yee Fun was so handsome and making all the girls join tennis for his sake like Chen Suxian.
How Mr Ho Kong Mun was so short that he was widely regarded as the all time hated midget in school. It was said that he is shorter than the wheel of a container truck.
How the moon shines high in the clear blue sky and all was bright and gay.
How the earthworm in the grass patch was squirming during rainy days and scaring the freak out of Chen Suxian.
Those I’ve mentioned were just a few of the million things they chat about. I need at least one month for me to list everything they talk about.
So there Mr Ler was, teaching about upthrust, and the guys, being a clever bunch of guys, were watching Kavin Aw playing with Setter Peng and kept glancing at Mr Ler just in case he wanted to test the guys with some surprise questions.
But the girls, being the chatty bunch of girls, were too engrossed in what they were chatting.
Obviously, they must be talking the Project Superstar and how Miss Lim Shi Ying insisted Kelly Poon will win the competition.
The rest were betting on which will be the next song some of the hot favourite contestants will sing.
Sharon insisted 洪俊扬 will sing Jay Chou’s 将军.
Jasmine insisted 陈伟联 will sing the nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Suddenly Miss Lim Shi Ying became so agitated and insisted Kelly Poon will sing the Rihanna hit song.
“Under my umbrella. Ella. Ella. Ella. Eh. Eh. Eh…”
And started to sing along as well. Making the remaining 4 Chatty girls wide-eyed.
Meanwhile, the guys were still interested in watching Kavin Aw playing with Setter Peng.
I mean, what is a potential World War 3 compared to Project Superstar?
That was when Mr Ler noticed something wrong with Miss Lim Shi Ying and asked that question.
You know. That question.
Not that question lah. Not the classic question that goes…
“Eh. Ai kia stead mai?”
He aimed carefully at the point of time when Miss Lim Shi Ying is so engrossed in singing that umbrella song, using her heart and soul in it, perhaps, she herself sang even better than Rihanna.
Mr Ler:
Shi Ying. What is upthrust?
Shi Ying:
Under my umbrella. Ella. Ella Ella. Eh. Eh. Eh. Under my umbrella. Ella. Ella.
Ah Ler was bemused. He didn’t know how to react. He wanted to sing along with Miss Lim Shi Ying. He didn’t know Miss Lim Shi Ying was a talent in singing. There was a slight jerk to his head along with the catchy tune of the song.
However, he managed to keep his composure and accused Miss Lim Shi Ying of not paying attention in class.
From then on, Mr Ler drilled Miss Lim Shi Ying in this topic of upthrust until she became an expert in this upthrust topic, even better than Mr Ler himself.
Even when he was teaching stuff about electromagnetism, he still liked to ask her that question.
“What is upthrust?”
And the question ‘What is upthrust?’ goes down into the history as the trademark of Miss Lim Shi Ying.
I was thinking it might be a secret code or signal between Mr Ler and Miss Lim Shi Ying. Maybe he was trying to date her out by asking this question. So whenever he asked this question, and she gave the correct answer, means they will be going on a date that night.
It seems like she has never given a wrong answer before, so I guess everything he asks this question, they’ll confirm go on a date.
She has so many titles given till date.

Don’t worry. Your very good friend, Chen Suxian also has a title. Just that hers might be better sounding than yours.
She is known as the smart chio bu.
There is a story behind it too.
But I’m lazy to elaborate.
