Seems like it’s a yearly affair.
I’m talking the obvious.
Hahaha.
PSLE is a yearly affair. Everyone has been through it.
But parents complaining about the tough papers is also a yearly affair.
Every year without fail, since the batch after my batch, parents have been complaining about how tough the Maths paper is. How their kids are so sad and morale low because of the tough paper.
Like what Mr Chua will say.
If the paper is tough, soak it in water and make it softer.
Muahaha.
And despite parents complaining about how tough the PSLE paper is, in the end, kids will end up getting As and A stars.
So what if the paper is difficult? There’s such thing called moderation.
They won’t let the whole cohort fail. Otherwise, secondary school teachers can enjoy a one year holiday. And the primary schools will have a overflooded population of primary school kids.
And the primary school teachers will be overworked.
The toughness of the paper distinguishes between the lousy students and those bright students.
And the definition of lousy students are those kind who 读死书. They can do simple Maths questions, but if you twist the question around, they can’t do it anymore, despite the fact that this question is a case of working backwards.
It’s just like taking a driving test.
If you just memorise the functions of the car, you can move the car forward, but if you can’t reverse your car, the tester will still fail you.
From what I understand, some students memorise the steps to solving some difficult Maths question without understanding.
Now, the trend is understanding. Gone are the days where you memorise the whole book and still get 100.
Now, if you memorise the whole book, you will fail.
And the actions of parents complaining about the tough PSLE papers are giving me the impression that the kids nowadays are weak.
They are the ones going to the exams. If you are so worried, take the exams for them lah.
Why come to their defence? It might be just a simple case of insufficient practising of the past years’ papers. So why blame the PSLE papers for being tough when your kids are still playing soccer one day before the exam?
Not only Maths. Even the Chinese papers are being complained.
So difficult.
Parents nowadays. Like to complain. NS they complain about SAF being so vulgar. Training is so siong. Exams they complain that the papers are so tough.
If you parents want your kids to be successful, they should know how to accept failure. Otherwise, they will be losers in life.
Don’t keep defending them and complain here and there. Independence is the key.
Unless you can take the PSLE on their behalf and carry their FBOs for them during their route march.
Otherwise, just shut up, and let them suffer. So that they can learn.
Kids nowadays are pampered.
By the way, the question that is disputed.
Jim bought some chocolates and gave half of it to Ken. Ken bought some sweets and gave half of it to Jim. Jim ate 12 sweets and Ken ate 18 chocolates. The ratio of Jim’s sweets to chocolates became 1:7 and the ratio of Ken’s sweets to chocolates became 1:4. How many sweets did Ken buy?
Took me just 5 minutes to solve.
Because I solved by using simultaneous equation.
Muahaha.
Ken bought 68 sweets.
Jim bought 308 chocolates.

i dun think we should stop such ‘complaints’ but the magnitude of such that we are currently facing is due to the developed mass communication and platform for free expression. i guess some complained unnecessary but such comments are vital for safe and check to ensure that the pace which progress is being regulated and not dictated.
